Faculty to Re-roof the Church

John Pretyman, clerk, Master of Arts, Vicar General and Official Principal of the Right Reverend Father in God, George, by divine possession in Lord Bishop of Lincoln.  lawfully constituted.
To all Christian People to whom there present shall come.  Greetings, whereas it hath been represented to us sand our office by the humble petitions of the Reverend William Wilkinson, clerk, Vicar of the Vicarage and Parish  of Grasby in the county and Diocese of Lincoln.  Richard Cuthbert, Churchwarden of the said Parish and diverse others of Parishioners and Inhabitants of the same.

That the roof of  the Parish church of Grasby aforesaid is becoming very ruinous and decayed that a new roof must be placed there on, that the lead with which it is covered is also become very thin and the said church being in need of several reparations particularly in the North Wall, it is proposed to effectually repair the same in every part, and place a new roof there on and cover the same with good slates, and dispose of the old lead and materials in and of the expenses which when completed will be a considerable expense to the parishioners of the said parish over and besides what the old lead will sell for, wherefore the said Petitioners have humbly prayed our Licence of Faculty to be granted to the said Richard Cuthbert for the purpose aforesaid and to enable him to sell and dispose of the said old lead and surpluss materials and place a new roof upon the said church and cover the same with good slate and effectually  repair the said church where necessary and ornament and beautify the same as becomesa place of Religious Worship and to sell and dispose of the old lead and useless materials in aid of the expense, he rendering and passing a just and true account of his doings and transactions herein where lawfully required.
